Murphy Beds

I know this isn't barnwood, but I'll be adding some other furniture pieces we have built. We were asked to build two Murphy Beds this winter. One was to be a queen size with side cabinets, the other was to fit a double bed. The cabinets on either side of the queen bed were to house tables that would fold out. The customer was going to use them as as her sewing tables. Underneath the tables was more storage for her extra supplies. What a great way to make extra room in that guest bedroom that rarely gets used!!

Barnwood/ Stone finished columns

Last week we built these columns for a family in Winnipeg. They turned out amazing! (We didn't do the brick around the bottom, just the barnwood tops)

Barnwood Mantel

A wonderful couple asked to have a barnwood mantel built. They wanted a beam stained DARK to match their trim and left as rustic as possible. It turned out AMAZING!! Great job on the brick you guys!!

Rough wood

Here are some pics of the rough wood. Lots of knots in the wood and TONS of character. Ever piece is unique!

Barnwood Tables

Here are some examples of tables we have built in the last few months. They are all built using mortise and tenon joints. Each table is custom built and can be stained to a color that suits your decor.

pretty amazing isn't it?!?

Barnwood Sales Counter

We were asked by the owners of Hillside Greenhouses to build them a new sales counter. We had their existing cabinetry as a base but the rest was left up to us... hmmm, an opportunity to be creative! We added vertical barnwood pieces around the entire bottom of the counter as well as on the privacy wall. We kept them rough to give them an authenitic barnwood look. We sanded the countertop smooth and gave it a natural finish. Be sure to check it out this summer when you get ready to fill your gardens with plants from Hillside Greenhouse!

Detail of the barnwood countertop

We used existing cabinetry from their previous renovation, painted them black and built a backpiece, countertop and privacy wall.

More Countertops

Here is another example of the countertops we have built. This one was for an office. We stained this one a darker color than the previous kitchen countertop. The customer LOVED it!!

Barnwood Countertops and cabinet doors

At Prairie Barnwood we are always wanting to try new things and find all kinds of new ideas. This countertop and cabinet door reno was no exception! What a great product! Not only does it LOOK amazing, but it works and wears GREAT!! What a great opportunity to re-use wood!

Barnwood Flooring

We had the opportunity to create a new floor for a basement - from scratch!! It starts with a barn, we rip it down, take apart the wood, de-nail it, plane it, cut it to size and create a product that suites the customer's needs! It is so interesting to take the wood from rough & "unusable"

to smooth and conversational. So, here is the process of the flooring - stay tuned for the process of other furniture we're building !
